Our Story

Larimar Miner began with direct involvement in the stone and grew into a wider effort to document how Larimar is found, selected, processed, understood and shared.

Behind the name is a small team working with Larimar in the Dominican Republic. The project grew out of a frustration that kept coming up: by the time a stone reached a buyer, almost everything interesting about where it came from had quietly disappeared.

Working repeatedly with rough Larimar reveals how much information disappears between extraction and sale. A finished object may no longer show the original matrix, fracture direction, neighbouring slab or reason a particular cut was chosen.

We began preserving more of that context: photographs, weights, dimensions, categories, source records and observations. The new Larimar Miner website develops that practice into a public reference system.

We are building that record step by step — photographs, measurements, a published in-house grading standard, per-object documentation — and we treat it as a working record rather than a marketing timeline. A dated public history will grow on this page as entries can be backed by an image, an invoice or a note; where a milestone cannot be backed that way, we would rather leave it out.

Larimar information online often repeats older explanations without checking newer research. Trade grades are presented as universal. Spiritual traditions become medical claims. Beautiful photographs circulate without specimen identity or origin.

We believe the people closest to the material have a responsibility to document it carefully—and to invite independent evidence where field experience is not enough.

That belief shapes how we write. Where a claim is geological, we try to point to a source. Where an idea is spiritual or cultural, we label it as a belief held by particular communities rather than a fact about the stone. And where we simply do not know, we say so, and treat the gap as something to fill rather than something to paper over.

Our direction from here is steady rather than spectacular. We want to keep widening the documented record, keep our grading language honest and testable, and keep inviting correction from anyone with better evidence. We are not promising to be the biggest name in Larimar, and we make no claims about prices, returns or what any stone may be worth in future. We would rather be the source people trust to show its work.

The story is still being written, and we intend to keep writing it in the open—with dated entries, original images and documents, and milestones that anyone is welcome to check.
